Broadband Speeds & Subs: A report from network-diagnostics firm Ookla says cable wins the download wars, telco wins on uploads. Fastest among MSOs: Comcast, Charter, Cablevision's Optimum Online, Midcontinent Communications and TWC's Road Runner, with average downloads ranging from Comcast's 16.23 Mbps to TWC's 13.44 Mbps. Surewest, Verizon and AT&T win the upload prize, topped off by Surewest's 9.49 Mbps. Meanwhile, Telegeography.com has this chart on worldwide broadband sub winners.
No Apples at Nielsen:
Nielsen's plans to deliver ratings for TV via internet are looking a
bit wormy as the company tells clients its current technology can't
