Kable Kid and 3D
All right, so 3D is the new big thing and it's pretty darn cool... But it's sure going to look funny when everyone is walking around in 3D glasses in the house. How many drinks are going to be spilled because people can’t see exactly where things are while in the glasses?
It’s great that tech people all over the world are working on watching 3D without the glasses, but for a while it looks like we're stuck with them. I'm wondering which designer will jump on the 3D glasses wagon. Ah the power of "Dior" 3D glasses; look stylish while watching 3D in your very own home. That might be a bit too much, but hey people do buy some pretty strange stuff.
For me, I can see myself watching 3D sports (without designer glasses). Sure the movies and TV shows are great, and I'm pretty sure Shark Week would freak me out in 3D. Overall I don't feel a great desire to watch things in 3D past big sporting events, partly because I find wearing glasses slightly awkward (I've been lucky with good vision) and partly because it just makes me feel like it over-complicates things. Every TV shouldn’t require needing to sit in the exact right place to watch a TV show. I like playing with a puzzle while watching TV; I don’t think I’d be able to do that with 3D.
3D isn’t going to be just some tiny little thing. There are articles all over the place informing us who has 3D and who to look for next. The US has been in some ways "ahead" in launching 3D. We got it this summer while Europe's first 3D channel is being launched October 1st… Sky 3D is joining the 3D world!
Who is going to be next? Is it going to be a race? Or will only a few make it to the 3D world, and how much are you really willing to spend on a 3D TV or even the glasses? Should be pretty interesting to watch.
Until Next Time, Kable Kid
