• Analyze This: Citi's Jason Bazinet is upgrading Time Warner Cable to 'buy' ... and discounting the threat of Title II and targeting $70/share. --- Restructuring RealNetworks lost $25.9M on revenues of $88.9M in Q2. --- LodgeNet’s Q2 revenue of $113M trailed last year’s $122M but income from operations jumped from $4.7M to $6M. --- Eutelsat’s ’09-’10 full year revenue posted a record growth of more than $130M. --- Coinstar raised its guidance reporting a 35% revenue jump from continuing operations ... CEO Paul Davis noted, “great momentum in our DVD business as demonstrated by our increasing market share and expanding relationships with key partners.” --- Filmyard got Miramax from Disney for $660M. --- Improving ad climate boosted Belo ... along with Q2 retrans revenue of $11.7M. --- Charter added lawyer Craig Jacobson to its board as it prepares for 222 re-listing.
• Rules & Regs: The FCC has asked for input on defining an "antenna" as STELA required a change from a signal strength model on an outdoor antenna to a simple antenna. Up for grabs is the definition of a distant signal ... FCC would like to keep it outdoor and simple ... what would you like? --- Meanwhile, looking at ex parte filings (and monitoring the hacked security camera at the entrance to the Portals), negotiations are in full swing among all the players who might be impacted by Title I or Title II or Title X decisions by the 3 Democrats in charge of the Commission ... never mind what Congress might want. Up in The Sky: DISH Network plans to lodge a complaint against Comcast for failing to negotiate "in good faith" for carriage of the MSO's Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. In another matter, DISH has dodged a mandate that it carry all PBS HD stations by cutting deals with at least 30 noncommercial broadcasters. The company will still challenge the law.
