Folks: Rumors were right,
Keith Olbermann is joining
Current TV as Chief News Officer (with arrest rights?) and producer/host of a nightly prime time news and commentary show later this year. Under
CEO Mark Rosenthal, the channel founded by
Al Gore and
Joel Hyatt has been moving strongly into original fare matched with the user-generated topical programming. Olbermann will also have an equity stake. As Gore noted in a press conference, Olbermann certainly fits the founding desire “to engage viewers with smart, provocative and timely programming.” ---
CBS shook up its management of news and sports naming
Jeff Fager Chairman of CBS News and
David Rhodes, ex of
Bloomberg TV, as president of
CBS News;
Sean McManus was promoted to Chairman,
CBS Sports.

Gov. Chris Christie said,
"To have the taxpayers of New Jersey pay for cable TV, I mean
seriously, has cable TV become a constitutional right now that we are
going to pay for, in this time of budget constraints?" So, anyone think
refunds are on the way? Not a chance ... details
here. ---
