Countdown Returns --- Charter LA Being Shopped? --- Privacy Lawsuits

Analyze This: Multichannel News reported Charter has been trying to swap its LA-area systems with Time Warner Cable ... but is now interviewing investment bankers about a possible sale. --- Bad news for USPS, Netflix says DVD rentals are declining for the 1st time.

In the Courts: Privacy lawsuits are beginning to proliferate against Apple (soon others) over tracking; meanwhile, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) will hold hearings and the EU and South Korea are threatening investigations.  At the same time, Microsoft admits it tracks Windows phone users and fingers are pointed at Android phones.

Folks: Our friend David Lieberman knocked the “overpaid” at deadline.com ... this week he lists the “not overpaid” (sort of) here.   The list includes Charles Ergen, Ken Lowe, Steve Burke, Mike Lovett, Randall Stephenson and Ivan Seidenberg.

Online: Add (maybe; dissension in the movie studio ranks according to The Wrap) YouTube to the list of aggressive online streamers as it plans to launch movies on demand and more ... for a fee, of course. --- FaceBook launched ‘Deals,’ another coupon come on.

Programming: ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’ launches on Current TV  Monday, June 20th at 8 pm EDT. --- NFL draft is on TV, the NFLPA “won” a round getting an injunction to end the lockout ... but the league asked for a stay pending appeal.
