Wednesday the 28th's Market Close – CTIA Spectrum Facts

Deals: The New York Times Company says it signed a definitive agreement to sell its Regional Media Group to Florida's Halifax Media Holdings for $143M. --- Some are not so good ... Viacom's long-running attempts to forget Garage Band hit another bump as it has been ordered to pay an additional $383M to former Harmonix (Garage Band's originators) shareholders.  Viacom will appeal the arbitrator's order.

Folks: Comcast's Michael Angelakis will be a board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia next month. --- Business Insider looks at "John Chambers' Absolutely Awful Year" here (complete with typo).

Sports: The NBA scored on TV as it opened December 25th.

Spectrum: The CTIA has a "fact-based" brochure for policymakers here.

Retail: CEA's Index of Consumer Technology Expectations was  up 2 points to 93.6.  That might bode well for the 3DTV sets without glasses we'll see in Las Vegas in January.•
