Intelsat, Panasonic Partner on In-Flight Web Access
Intelsat said on Monday that it is working with Panasonic to develop next generation in-flight passenger broadband access technology.
Panasonic has been working on an advanced satellite transmission platform that gives airline passengers the ability to access internet-based information and entertainment. The service, Panasonic eXConnect, provides passengers with Web connectivity.
The platform will leverage Intelsat's existing GlobalConnex Network Broadband service, available on Intelsat's global satellite fleet of 53 satellites and regional teleport facilities. Though Intelsat's infrastructure, Panasonic can introduce eXConnect in key regions around the world, the companies said.
