NEWS BRIEFS: DIRECTV Joins MoCA, DISH/NDS Litigation Update
DIRECTV has joined MoCA, the Multimedia over Coax Alliance. The company is a Contributor level member, which enables the small dish service to become more involved in the formation of the organization, including development of the next generation specification, MoCA said.
According to press reports, the federal trial involving EchoStar and NDS Group, centering on allegations that NDS hacked the conditional access technology of the DBS company and shared the information with pirates, is close to winding down in California. Jossip.com said NDS CEO Abe Peled may testify before the court, though as of press time there wasn't any confirmation of that move.
INTERNATIONAL - SNL Kagan said it has joined the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA), the advocacy group promoting television via cable, satellite, broadband and wireless video networks in the Asia-Pacific region.
