EchoStar XI Coasts into Space
As of press time late Tuesday, things appeared to be going well for the launch of EchoStar XI, a mission that was conducted by launch services provider Sea Launch.

The Zenit-3SL launch vehicle carrying the satellite cleared the Odyssey Launch Platform located in the Pacific Ocean at about 10:21 p.m. Pacific Time. Signal acquisition from the satellite occurred about an hour and 10 minutes after launch.

EchoStar XI, built by Space Systems/Loral, will support the expansion of DISH Network capacity, including high-def services. It's expected that the satellite will be located at the 110-degree orbital position.
