Another Quarter of Basic Sub Growth at Cablevision
This morning, Cablevision reported the company achieved its eleventh consecutive quarter of basic video subscriber gains, adding 16,000 customers to its basic tier of service during the fourth quarter, for a total of 3.127 million. Digital cable customers grew by 82,000, or 3.5 percent, during the fourth quarter, for a total of 2.447 million. High-speed data customers were up 75,000, or 3.8 percent, during the period, ending at 2.039 million. And Cablevision's Optimum Voice customers increased by 109,000, or 9.9 percent, during the quarter, for a total of 1.209 million. Cablevision said fourth quarter consolidated net revenue grew 13.4 percent to just under $1.7 billion compared to the same period in 2005, reflecting solid revenue growth within the company's telecommunications services and at Rainbow, its programming unit. Consolidated operating income declined 9.4 percent to $208.3 million during the quarter.
