Struggling Nets to YouTube? – "Office" Social – CenturyLink TV to Colorado

Analyze This: Colorado Springs’ gazette.com reports CenturyLink wants to get into the TV subscription business as it has applied for a franchise; nearby Monument has already granted a franchise.

In the Courts: Facebook is seeking to consolidate the various suits against it; meanwhile, it is beginning to point fingers at NASDAQ for IPO snafus.

OTT: Will small, struggling “cable” nets migrate to YouTube?  Maybe; Reuters has the story here.  Maybe YouTube will start charging a la MVPDs, too?

Up, Down & Over There: €60M ($75.7M) payments to German cable ops as public broadcasters want to quit paying for carriage banking on “must carry” status. --- 16K visited ANGA in Cologne with 1.6K participating in the congress.  And about half were non-German.

Politics: Tsk, tsk.  About that head on a stake in “Game of Thrones” last year,  HBO has said, "We were deeply dismayed to see this."

People: As RIM has struggled, the former chiefs got $12M as they left. --- A Colorado woman, Karen Fitzgerald of Fort Carson, has started a website petition aimed at Comcast (click here) claiming Comcast charges victims of natural disasters, such as Colorado's very serious High Park Fire, of charging subscribers for disconnecting.  Comcast doesn't, of course, do that (though the process via a CSR might not be seamless).  Denver Post has the story here.

Online: Microsoft’s deal to acquire Yammer (now pegged at $1.2B) could make the signature software Office a social one.
