TiVo, Blockbuster Announce Content Agreement
TiVo DVR users will soon have access to thousands of on demand titles via Blockbuster's OnDemand streaming service thanks to a new content agreement between the two companies, announced Wednesday.

In addition to the content deal, Blockbuster will begin selling TiVO DVRs in its retail stores nationwide and participate in a cross marketing campaign with the company.

The Blockbuster OnDemand service -- which features downloadable content for rent or for purchase -- will be integrated into broadband connected TiVo Series2, Series3 and TiVo HD boxes, the DVR developer said, and will charge users on an a la carte basis. The Blockbuster service will offer between 5,000 and 10,000 titles and will focus mostly on newer releases and $3.99 24-hour rentals.

The companies said they hope to have the Blockbuster OnDemand service up and running on the TiVo platform by the third quarter of 2009.
