Cable De-regulation
Since 1994, MediaBiz has provided cable operators with the information required to prove Effective Competition as defined in the 1994 Cable Act, thereby enabling them to file for franchise de-regulation.  MediaBiz has developed the only federally-approved methodology for mapping cable franchises for deregulatory filings.
MediaBiz’s ZIP Identifier (ZIP ID) and ZIP ID+4 products have provided thousands of cable systems with reports detailing which ZIP

Codes or ZIP+4 intersect a franchise, the percentage of a ZIP Code within a franchise and the number of occupied homes per franchise.   This data combined with DBS subscriber counts by ZIP Code or ZIP+4 has been used in thousands of filings over the past 15 years. 

ZIP ID and ZIP ID+4 are available for all franchises, including those which do not follow municipal boundaries.  MediaBiz will build a custom map for any franchise which does not follow municipal boundaries and will produce ZIP ID and/or ZIP ID+4 for these “custom geos”.
